Get to know Barbara...
I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan Law School in 2018, where I cultivated a passion for advocating for justice and supporting individuals through complex legal challenges. My journey in law has been marked by a commitment to serving the community, which is evident from my early career achievements. In January 2022, I joined Legal Aid and a collegue at the newly established Workplace Sexual Harassment Legal Clinic, leveraging Federal funding to provide support and advocacy for victims of workplace sexual harassment. Through this initiative I also provided law-based training to various staff, students and the general public though significant outreach. It reflects my dedication to addressing sensitive and impactful issues within the legal landscape. Additionally, I was mentored by Legal Aid senior lawyers in both criminal and family law, further broadening my expertise and ability to serve diverse client needs.
In February 2023, I was honoured to be called to the Yukon Bar, marking a new chapter in my legal career. My commitment to family law has been long-standing; in 2006, I played a pivotal role in establishing the Family Law Information Centre, which continues to provide valuable resources and support to families navigating legal matters. Whether advocating for victims of workplace harassment, assisting employers on ensuring a respectful work environment, representing clients in criminal and family law cases, or providing essential administrative law support, my goal remains to make a positive impact on my community.
I am a long time Yukoner and look forward to helping you with your legal needs.
